Dinner at Le St. Tropez on Monday night after the planning meeting for the town hall discussion on racism and xenophobia. A few more photos than we usually post for a restaurant, so they get their own gallery
I am leaving next Sat for my annual sabbatical to the island.
Can you send me your top 5 restuarant choices??
Also is there anything new I should look to do??
We are divers–so most of our time is in the water—any land loving things that have recently come up??
But, most importantly–restaurants we may not know about??
Thanks–can hardly wait to get ther!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lynne
We haven’t met too many restaurants we haven’t liked, but let’s see if we can get you caught up on the latest. Perennial favorites Bacchus, Savant, Galleon, Kendrick’s are still great. Bacchus is under new ownership, but they’ve carried on with the great tradition Katherine and Frank established.
Downtown Christiansted has a few new players. Zebo’s Wine Bar is fabulous, they’re on Strand Street, where Giovanni’s made a short go of it and Pizza Mare used be, years ago.
Almost catty-corner is Parrot’s Cove, above Purple Papaya, where Tivoli Garden’s was for years and, more recently, Zizzler’s fizzled. They’re a little more pub fare, but good food and drink, great atmosphere. Look for bartender Phil, he’s a hoot.
Then there is Angry Nate’s on the waterfront. Nate’s is the second restaurant brought to us by Brian Mika and Chris Stone of Aqua West in Frederiksted. Food is good, prices reasonable, bar gets a little wild after they fire a cannon over Christiansted Harbor announcing the beginning of happy hour.
We also like the Deep End, open air waterfront at the Tamarind Reef Hotel. Elizabeth’s has moved once again, Jason is back at H2O at the Hibiscus Beach Hotel. Brian Wisbauer, formerly of H2O and Salud Bistro, and Frank Pugliese, of Bacchus, have filled the gap at the Palms Restaurant at Pelican Cove.

Hmmm - non-diving land loving things - Have you tried a massage on the beach?
