Did anyone know the cause of Cover's death? I suspect he may have been a shut in and weighed several hundred pounds. Can anyone respectfully confirm this?

Terry- as much as this is such a hard subject to digest, I have to applaud your addressing it the way you did.

It's hard to not be affected by things that when you were younger, only happened to other people or other peoples' families.

What got me was the dog connection. They really entwine their way into our souls. Your big heart is showing and hooray.
I'd rather have animals to love and care for even knowing what the eventual outcome will be.

I really admire all the areas of living that you write about in your blog. And perhaps writing about death is the exorcist for it.

The funny motto of an old friend from my past-
"Tis better to have loved a short man than never to have loved a tall ". ( should be read with a British inflection )

Good post Terry.

So true. Did I meet Nolan?

I started fretting over Peaches being 12 in June as I built her dog ramp today. It breaks my heart thinking about her life coming to an end and the likely way she will go at my hands.

Death never gets easier. I often wondered when I was young if older folks thought about death more. I say yes, I do.

Death looming encourages me. It make me do thing I have never done while I still can.

We took a long ride in the Jeep today. It was a beautiful perfect day. My 11 year old nephew asked why we were doing this. I told him you'll understand one day but for now shut up and sit down.

Now I'm feeling mushy...I gotta go hug Peaches...and my bride.

How sad about David Cover, I always enjoyed talking with him and listening to his off-beat take on the island's melee. Also coincidently, two old friends of mine from St. Croix's West End passed last week. Chris Christman, who lived in Estate Carlton in the 70's, and ran for Senator twice I believe, he promoted himself on t.v. with a magic act!! How appropriate. I taught two of his children at Good Hope School; he was an active, interested father... He owned a floor tile business. Also, a very dear old friend from St. Croix, Rainey Chauncey, she owed one of the only dress shops in Frederiksted in the 70's called Raineys. It was located in Victoria House, and was such a nice store, particularly since it was in Frederiksted so us West Enders did not always have to drive to Christiansted for clothes. One could always count on seeing a friend at Raineys and have a good visit while trying on clothes. And so it goes...
