Max’s Attacker Walks

What a surprise! Not!

As the article in yesterday’s Source stated, the police DID NOT EVEN RESPOND to a case of the LAW being BROKEN.

Apparently, there was not enough evidence to convict the creep who beat this poor creature. More examples of our tax dollars being wasted on people who do not do their jobs. Aaaaaargh!

I could offer many other examples of the police being called and not responding appropriately, but none of those cases were as important as this one involving Max. Some deranged individual deliberately harmed Max because he believed the dog knocked over the garbage!?! What would he have done if a child had done this? Obviously, Max was hungry, and to add insult to the injury of hunger, he is brutally beaten for trying to find food in the garbage.

I hope this guilty creep who beat an innocent creature, is as energetic about making sure the problem of garbage on the sides of our roads gets solved. Ha!

I am disgusted and deflated and our legislators should be, too.

Why go through all the trouble to create laws to protect our community if the laws will be ignored by those called upon to enforce them?

Moises of the Shelter was on Ch2 last night and spoke about how the VIPD did not help – he was the one who investigated and gathered the edvidence – which seemed to make it suspect.

The witness was not an adult, but a brave young man who then was accused of being the one who beat the dog?

Having served on juries, I can relate to the evidence and testimony not being air-tight. If the man who did this is not brought to Justice, at least his “like” might be deterred from future abuse by the publicity.

We all must be on the look-out for ALL criminal activities, be willing to be a witness, have cameras ready and REPORT! There is now CrimeStoppers to provide a way to be anonymous.

This was also in the Avis

    Innocence
    by Rev. Anne Marie Porter
    Dear Source:

It is the Innocent who suffer most from cruelty and injustice. In the first animal abuse case to come to trial in the U.S. Virgin Islands, it was innocent children who watched a dog being tied to a tree and viciously beaten with a nail embedded board. It was innocent, frightened kids who saw a nail slam into Max’s eye and the next blow smash into his skull. It was innocent, kind children who, the day after the torture, took the still breathing animal to the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center. It was an innocent, courageous child who testified at the trial as to what he had witnessed. And it was innocent, frightened, kind, courageous children who learned from the adults – “not guilty.”

Thanks, Lisa. I hadn’t seen that one.

This person should be locked up! If I had it my way I would tie him to a tree and beat the crap out of him. Let him see how it feels. I’m sweating at my desk I’m soooo pissed off about this.
Trust me, I know one act of violence does not justify another. But, sometimes it’s the only way to make stupid people understand.
I’m from NJ, I love STX and donate $$ every month to the Animal Welfare Center. I’m going to donate $ right now and ask if it can be used to help Max.

God will make this man pay for what he has done!!

Thanks for caring, Dan. And we so understand your frustration.

One of the many unfortunate asides here, is that it took the shelter too long to get the police involved in the investigation (months!). That is why we try to rescue so many dogs ourselves.

It’s great that you support our local shelter, they certainly need all the help they can get.
